Welcome! Tuloy po kayo. Dayon.  On this website you will find information, stories and reflections  about the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) in the Philippines. It answers the questions that are frequently asked: What are BECs? What are the approaches in building BECs? What is happening in these BECs? This site also provides the space for BEC practitioners to share their experiences and reflections about BECs. This can also be helpful to those who are just starting to build BECs. For those doing research on BECs in the Philippines, this site is also for you.  You might be wondering what "SAMBAYANIHAN' means. It is a composite word. SAMBAYANAN is the Pilipino word for COMMUNITY. BAYANIHAN refers to the spirit of solidarity, cooperation and service among the members of the community. SAMBA refers to the worshipping and prayerful nature of this Christian Community. Thus, the word SAMBAYANIHAN captures the  essence of the BECs as a way of being Church.
