Situationer
Lights
Shadows
There is growing social awareness in the church and among BECs But there is prevailing attitude of indifference, that the church should only be ‘spiritual’ not political (split-level/dichotomized/ not interal)
In some areas like Mindanao, there is organized and coordinated political action among BECs. Ex. During elections and mobilizations against chacha, Erap, UFA, mining, etc. However, this entails a long difficult process since it involves changing people’s attitudes, cultural values and social systems ex. political
More people are involved in social issues Yet there is a lack of deep awareness and commitment regarding these, issues. Some participants in rallies out of obedience to their bishops and priests.

      2. Political education of the BECs
      3. Strengthen coordination and linkages within the church: BECs, parish, diocesan, regional and national , with the GO s, NGOs and POs
      4. Post-election follow-up and monitoring of the governance of elected officials
      5. Lobbying and advocacy on social issues.
